2 Plants shutting down in my hometown
A month ago, a furniture-making plant announced it was going to shut down here in South Boston, VA: O'Sullivan. This really bites b/c it's where my dad works as a mantainence administrator, and there is a possibility that we might move...AND IT'S MY SENIOR YEAR IN HIGH SCHOOL!! Now, about 1 week ago, ANOTHER plant anounced it would be closing: D-Scan. Now, we will have another 1000 jobless people running around. ......This bites......

for the last couple years I've been fighting to stay where I am. Cuz of my mum. She wants us to move out to LV (las vegas) which is one of the biggest ****holes on the planet in my opinion. And my dad is being weak and giving in. But luckily I've been able to come up with some great excuses not to move there. Cuz ya see, if I move there then it would be the 5th time I've moved in the last 2 years. And it would be 4 different schools in 5 years. And frankly, I'm tired of having to make new friends every time I go to a new school.

I have never moved in my life. But if yall are complaining about moving alot, listen to this: My fathers father was a construction worker, so he moved every few months. In about ten years, he lived in fourty seven states ( alaska, hawaii, and vermont) He then went into the navy, and went all over the world. so in about twenty years, he moved every three months.

I understand that he had big jobs to do Doc, but still you haven't felt the big pain of moving....well, not yet anyway. I've moved once already, and that was 9 years ago. It took me about half of those years to get some good friends, and understand the concept of the town that i moved into. However, this does not sound as bad as what Sharrakor's been through.

well I ain't one to dwell on the past. I'm more of a ''live in the now'' kind of person. Take life as it comes. But while we're talking about it, I guess it don't hurt much to reminisce. At my first school, I was without a doubt one of the most popular kids in the whole school. Me and my four main friends practically ruled the place. We all had straight A's and we all were athletic and pretty much considered to be top-notch cool by everyone in our whole school. Mind you, I had alot more than 4 friends but those 4 were the ones that I spent practically all my time with. Every day for two years I went over to my friends houses. It usually rotated between who's house we spent time at but we always stuck together no matter what. And when times got rough for me, one of my friends family took me and my dad in and let us live with them for a couple months. And while we were basically homeless at that time, it was the best two months of my life. me and my friend became like bread and butter, that's how close we were. Alas, I had to move because of expenses. So out here, I've moved a few different times, all in the same city but each time it's been harder to get established. For the first year out here in SD, I managed to get established and I became great friends with a couple other kids who were new to the school. Somehow, we ended up being considered cool by practically everyone. Of course, we weren't considered top notch cool like I had been at my old school but we were probly pretty close. I had a couple relationships with a couple of girls, they didn't go very far but it made me stand out. At the end of the year, my best bud had to move. I only saw him twice after he moved. The other people I had been friends with, we became pretty distant. So I ended up moving a mile or so away and I was off to middle school. I got new friends after awhile, but we were definitely considered middle-lower class. I move again. I grow distant from my new friends and have to make more new friends. Most of them view me with disapproval and don't take me seriously, but I provide entertainment for them and things work out okay. Next year of school starts and I'm even more distant from the friends I had made originally. However, I still have the newest friends. We've gotten pretty close now and over the past year my social status has risen due to being friends with different people, doing some stupid stuff and gettin in trouble, and having relationships with a couple girls that are major popular. Yeah...I think I'm done reflecting for now...

D@MN!!! Talk about a past life! Yeah, i'd have to agree. That's the worst thing about moving is that you and you're friends grow distant. But you're right....you gotta move on in life.
